New Year New Start!

I love the New Year and the new beginnings that it brings with it. But 2013 offers a lot more for me than previous years have done.  Mainly because I am starting a new job in January and I am finally getting back on my weight watchers wagon and I truly believe that 2013 is going to be year for me.

This is why I am looking forward to 2013 and making those wonderful New Year’s Resolutions.
I am currently in the process of thinking about what exactly those resolutions will be – I normally don’t put much thought in to my resolutions but this year aka next year I want them to work and I want them to be actual changes in my life for the good. Changes that will last beyond the first week in January.

Next year I am know that I am going to be learning more and more new skills as my job will present many learning challenges for me and challenges which I willingly accept and look forward to taking on.  But it is definitely going to be a learning curve.

What are your resolutions?  Have you made any yet? And what are your tips for making them work and last.

Getting your house ready for the season

Ohh Christmas is just here, are you ready?   Here are some final tips for these last few days to ensure that you are ready for whatever over the next few days!

De-Clutter.

Take a look around each of your party rooms.   Is there something there that shouldn’t be there?  Yes, well put it away.  Get it out of your sight for the next few days.  If you don’t need to see it either does any of your guests that are popping over.

Remember also that if you have a clear coffee table it is easier for people to leave down their drinks and not ruin your carpet by leaving a glass there.

Once you have your party rooms done – take a look over every other room in the house.

Bathroom

When throwing a party it is always essential that you have your bathroom perfect.  Make sure you have enough toilet rolls visible for your guests should the original roll run out.  Ensure your hand towel is clean and fluffy. I remember going to one party where the towel was damp when I got there.  Ewww I wasn’t impressed.  If you have a cabinet in your bathroom leave another towel or two out so people can easily move to another towel if they are not happy.   Always remember to make sure you have enough hand soap – go out and treat yourself to some fancy soap for the occasion.

Clean as you go.

Ok so you have the mega cleaning done on your house. But every day you need to make an effort so that you house is ready for entertaining.   Make time during most days to take out the hoover and give a quick run around.   Don’t forget to get clean down the kitchen as you go along.

Do you have any tips?

Cranberry Feta Roll ups

This is so simple to make and so tasty. This is perfect to have ready and take out should someone stop by during the holidays.

You need:

1 (170 g) package dried sweetened cranberries
1 (250 g) container cream cheese spread
1 cup crumbled feta cheese
1/4 cup chopped scallions
4 large flour tortillas or 4 large wheat flour tortillas

What you need to do:

  1. Mix up the cranberries, cream cheest spread, feta cheese and scallions.  Mix then very well and make sure you get a lovely mix of colour out through them.
  2. Take out your tortilla,
  3. Spread the mixture from step one all over.  Don’t spread too thinly as you want to make sure it is thick enough.
  4. You should have enough mix to make the 4 tortillas above
  5. Next roll your wrap, wrap it up in plastic so as to keep the wrap roll shape.
  6. Pop in the fridge for approximately one hour.
  7. After an hour or whenever you need it – take it out and cut in to 12 slices.

You can serve this as it is or perhaps a little salad with it.  You can keep this in the fridge for up to two days.  No longer remember you have fresh ingredients in there.
